Anton Pannekoek was a Kingdom of the Netherlands astronomer, historian of science, philosopher, university teacher, and politician.
He was born on January 2, 1873 in Vaassen to Aaltje Noordewier-Reddingius.
He studied at Leiden University and University of Amsterdam. His field of work included astronomy, Marxism, communist party, political activity, and political theory. He was professor. He was a member of Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. He worked for University of Amsterdam, for University of Amsterdam from January 1, 1932 until March 1, 1942, for University of Amsterdam from November 1, 1925 until January 1, 1932, and for University of Amsterdam from September 1, 1918 until November 1, 1925.
He married Johanna Maria Pannekoek- Nassau Noordewier on July 15, 1903.
He died on April 28, 1960 in Wageningen.
